Korean Drama Genre: Romantic Comedy (romcom) Where can you find it: Netflix
( Spoiler free review) This is a Korean drama romantic comedy about a college girl named Do Bong-Soon (Park Bo Young) who lives in the district Dobong-dong. Bong-Soon has superhuman strength that is passed down through the women in her family. But, if she does something terrible to someone, like kill someone, then she could lose her powers. There are 2 men in her life, so it is a love triangle and I love that! This show was awesome!
The show goes over a lot of history about her family which is good, so you have a very good under standing of the characters. Bong-Soon wants to work as a video game designer, and when she saves Ahn Min-hyuk (Park Hyung Shik) the President of Ainsoft (one of the biggest video game companies in Korea) she hopes that he can help her land land her dream job at the company. Ahn Min-hyuk really likes Bong-Soon romantically but, doesn’t want to tell her. Plus, Bong-Soon can hardly stand Min-hyuk and has also has a crush on her childhood friend Guk-doo (Ji Soo).
I was on the fence about who I wanted her to get with because she was so in love with Guk-doo, but he didn’t notice her, but then I wanted her to get with Min-hyuk because he liked her so much and I feel they could have a really good relationship. I really started to cheer for Min-hyuk when I would see most of Guk-doo’s and Bong-Soons interactions, because Guk-doo seems pretty aggressive towards Bong-Soon and it takes him a very long time to realize how he feels about her. The relationship was also really rocky and frustrating.
But, this love triangle isn’t the only aspect to this show! The other plot of the show is that women are being attacked and kidnapped in Bong-Soon’s district and she has made it her personal vendetta to capture the guy. There is a lot of mystery surrounding the kidnapper and it adds a darker undertone to the story line. Things get really dangerous for our characters and at one point you think the kidnapper problem is solved and then find out it is not! I was a little annoyed at that, but was very happy when the kidnapper is finally brought to justice.
This show had quite a few other elements like the Mafia, bullies, etc which added fun and comedy to the show. I really enjoyed watching every episode of the show, and because it is only about 16 episodes I was able to watch it pretty quickly. It can be pretty difficult for me to watch shows that are too long. I think I kind of get bored even if I like the show. Please let me know if you saw this show and your thoughts on it. Be sure to catch it on Netflix!
